There’s nothing ordinary about being in the Royal Family and, it would seem, some of The Royals’ eating habits.
Darren McGrady, who worked as the Queen’s head chef in the kitchens of Buckingham Palace from 1982 to1993, said the Princess Royal has a strange preference when it comes to eating bananas.
He said Princess Anne enjoys eating her bananas ‘almost black’.
“Princess Anne almost always preferred the bananas almost black – over ripe – because they digested easier,” he said in an interview with Today.
And bizarre habits and traditions when it comes to food run in the whole family.
Mr McGrady explained one strange rule that the family adhere to is that no hands are allowed to touch food at a royal banquet.
Mr McGrady said the rule makes it difficult for the Royal Family to eat most kinds of fruit, which is usually served at the end of every meal.
He explained that using a knife and fork, members of the Royal Family would slice off the top of a pear “and eat it with a teaspoon like a boiled egg”.
Mr McGrady added that the rule of never eating with your hands also extends to guess at a royal banquet.
