Princess Charlotte celebrated her sixth birthday on May 3, and according to her dad, Prince William, the little royal got to have a small party this year.
On Tuesday, the Duke of Cambridge made an official visit to Babcock Vehicle Engineering, learning about the company’s role during the pandemic. While there, he was asked about his daughter’s birthday.
“She had a lovely day, thank you,” he said, according to Hello! “Last year it was her birthday in lockdown, but this year we were able to have one other family over. They grow up very fast. It was great fun.”
In honor of the princess’s birthday, the Duke and Duchess also shared a new photo of their daughter. The Duchess of Cambridge captured the picture this weekend, at the family’s home in Norfolk. In the photo, Charlotte grins at the camera, sporting a floral dress with a Peter Pan collar.
After the photo’s release, Charlotte’s dress, made by childrenswear designer Rachel Riley, immediately sold out. Riley’s designs are quite popular with the royal family—Prince George has also worn the brand’s clothing. Riley herself was pleased that Princess Charlotte sported her dress for the birthday photo.
“It was such a treat to see Princess Charlotte wearing our button front floral dress to mark her sixth birthday!
