Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to make their first post-Oprah public appearance on May 2, when they step out for Global Citizen’s VAX Live concert—the aim of which is to ‘reunite the world’ by inspiring public confidence in COVID-19 vaccines and to urge world leaders to make the vaccines available to all.
They’ll be joined by President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, and Vice-President Kamala Harris as Los Angeles’s So-Fi Stadium for the event, hosted by Selena Gomez, which will be taped and subsequently broadcast on May 8.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be appearing in their roles as campaign chairs of VAX Live, and will be delivering a message on behalf of global vaccine equity.
In a statement, Harry and Meghan said, “Over the past year, our world has experienced pain, loss and struggle— together. Now we need to recover and heal—together. We can’t leave anybody behind.
“We will all benefit, we will all be safer, when everyone everywhere has equal access to the vaccine. We must pursue equitable vaccine distribution, and in that, restore faith in our common humanity. This mission couldn’t be more critical or important.”
