Sunrise host Edwina Bartholomew took aim at Meghan Markle‘s “centre of attention” claim live on air after it was reported she would not attend Prince Philip‘s funeral. Ms Bartholomew pleaded to the Duchess of Sussex to simply follow the “palace line” and explain she was not attending because of her pregnancy. The outburst split opinions online as the breakfast presenter exclaimed “just shut up” to Meghan.
After a segment that discussed Prince Philip’s funeral and Meghan’s absence, Ms Bartholomew was visibly frustrated against the Duchess.
She said: “[That] really gets my goat, I’ve reserved judgment about those two for quite some time but if that is true it just makes me so angry.”
The breakfast hosted added she still “liked Harry and Meghan” with co-host David Koch remarking Meghan was the Yoko Ono of the Royal Family.
The reference was made due to some saying Yoko Ono was responsible for splitting up the Beatles.
Ms Bartholomew conceded: “She is right, if she had gone there would have been a lot of attention on her and it would have distracted I think.
“But for them to say that, just go with the palace line.”
Ms Bartholomew then shouted “just shut up!” as she blasted Meghan for making the situation about her.
The Sunrise host advised the Duchess of Sussex to stick with the “doctor’s orders” where she was told not to travel because she is heavily pregnant.
But viewers were split on the outburst on Australian TV with some voicing their opinions…
