Prince Philip, 99, is said to be in good spirits after spending 28 nights as an in-patient – his longest ever stay. He was initially receiving care for an infection then underwent heart surgery for a pre-existing condition. But royal expert Rebecca English has said it is likely the Duke of Edinburgh is receiving care at the palace after leaving the hospital.
Host of Palace Confidential on MailPlus Jo Elvin asked: “I imagine after everything he’s been through in the past month that it will still be a convalescing period.
“Is it going to be like a hospital home with round-the-clock medical care?”
Ms English replied: “I can imagine it would be.
“They do have something called the medical household which a team of doctors that are on call for the Royal Family at all times.

“That’s why he got admitted to the hospital pretty quick because a doctor there said to get it checked out properly.
“We all feel like, we’re better when we get home.
“I’m sure that will have a great effect on his slow and steady recovery.”
Throughout his time in hospital, the royal family continued with their official duties.
Philip was visited just once on February 20 by his eldest son, the Prince of Wales, who made a 200-mile round trip from his Gloucestershire home and stayed for around 30 minutes.
