Omid Scobie discussed Kate Middleton’s appearance at the Sarah Everard vigil and the microscopic focus which was put on her behaviour and demeanour. Mr Scobie said the attendance was special and showed the power the Royal Family had in times of anguish to provide whatever relief or attention they could on important topics. But the Meghan Markle biographer explained regardless of the appearance, commentators and the public still focused on the ground-breaking Oprah Winfrey interview and said the Royal Family’s “keep calm and carry on” attitude would not fix their public image.
Speaking on the royal podcast Heirpod, Mr Scobie discussed what Kate and William have done since the Oprah Winfrey interview and the Duchess of Cambridge’s appearance at the Sarah Everard vigil.
He said: “We saw more of the Cambridges later this week visiting ambulance stations and catching up with ambulance workers.
“But you know I think it’s been very interesting following that sort of week after the Oprah interview.
“To see how the Royal Family handled their work and what they’re doing in the light of what has come up.
“And I think this does sort of fit that kind of ‘keep calm and carry on attitude.’
“I don’t know how well it will work in the long run because I think that we have so many unaddressed issues that need to be spoken about.
