Queen would be ‘stupid’ to change rules on titles says Ship
The Duchess of Sussex said in her interview with Oprah Winfrey that she was told when she was pregnant that her baby would not have the Prince or Princess title. She said: “What was happening behind closed doors is we knew I was pregnant, we now know it was Archie and it was a boy, we didn’t know any of that at the time, we can just talk about it as Archie now. “And that was when they were saying they didn’t want him to be a Prince or Princess ‒ not knowing what the gender was ‒ and that he wasn’t going to receive security.”
She added: “This went on for the last few months of our pregnancy where I was going, hold on for a second.”
Meghan later implied that she believed he was being denied this title because of his race.
She said: “But the idea of our son not being safe, and also the idea of the first member of colour in this family not to be titled in the same way that other grandchildren would be…”
However, according to Letters Patent, which governs who inherits HRH titles, Archie would not be entitled to the title of Prince as of yet.
