In Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah she likened herself to Ariel in The Little Mermaid. So Kerry Parnell looks at who the rest of the royal women represent as Disney princesses.
One of the standouts of Oprah’s interview with Harry and Meghan was when the Duchess of Sussex said she was The Little Mermaid.
Meghan said she had a revelation when she watched the Disney movie and realised she was Ariel.
“I was sitting in Nottingham cottage and Little Mermaid came on,” she said.
“And who, as an adult, really watches The Little Mermaid but it came on and … I went, ‘Oh my God, she falls in love with the prince and because of that she has to lose her voice’.
“But in the end, she gets her voice back,” she said.
“And this is what happened here, you feel like you’ve got your voice back,” said Oprah.
She certainly has. And while Meghan revealed her marriage wasn’t anything like a fairytale, she did get the happy ending.
“Greater than any fairytale you’ve ever read,” she said.
