LONDON—Prince William on Thursday said his family isn’t racist, the first public rebuttal from a senior member of the British monarchy of allegations made by Prince Harry and
Meghan Markle
about racism in the royal ranks.
During a visit to an east London school, Prince William, who is second in line to the British crown, told a Sky News reporter, “We are very much not a racist family” and that he intends to speak to his brother soon.
The comments come days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said during a tell-all interview with
Oprah Winfrey
that a member of the royal family raised concern about the color of their then unborn son’s skin. Ms. Markle, who is biracial, also said that she felt isolated and unwelcome when she married into the family in 2018.
