GAYLE KING: In Britain this morning, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are taking more flak for their interview with Oprah. It airs this Sunday on CBS. They say that the press was one of the driving forces behind their decision to leave for the United States.
The royal family has relied on the media for generations to shore up support. Holly Williams is in London with how this interview is likely to be received in Britain. Holly, of course, we’ve all been watching here, and it doesn’t seem like it’s being very well received so far. Good morning to you.
HOLLY WILLIAMS: Good morning. Wow, the British tabloids seem to have their knives out for Megan again this morning. And with Buckingham Palace investigating bullying allegations against the Duchess, it’s looking more and more like an all out war between Harry and Meghan on one side, and the palace on the other.
SUSANNA REID: The timing of the couple’s interview was described as unfortunate.
PIERS MORGAN: Oh, God. It’s just– it’s, it’s crass beyond belief, I think.
HOLLY WILLIAMS: Some in Britain say the interview is tone-deaf.
– I don’t understand what they want, or what they think they are going to gain out of it.
