Palace aides are keeping a ‘watchful eye’ on Princess Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith in case he spills truth bombs on Celebrity Big Brother

Buckingham Palace is keeping a ‘watchful eye’ on Gary Goldsmith during his stint on Celebrity Big Brother, according to a royal expert.

While Kate’s ‘bad uncle’ claimed he did not need the Firm’s stamp of approval to appear on the show, it is said the Palace is watching his every move.

Since his television debut, Mr Goldsmith has discussed controversial topics, even branding Meghan Markle a ‘stick in the spokes’ and claimed she is creating drama.

He even told housemate Fern Britton that Harry and Meghan should be stripped of their titles.

Gary spoke about the first time he met ‘normal’ Prince William and gave the public reassurance that his niece is getting ‘the best care in the world’.

However, it is unlikely that officials will intervene unless he says something ‘completely outrageous’, according to a royal expert.

Jennie Bond told the Mirror: ‘I think they’ll completely ignore it unless he says something so completely outrageous that they feel they’ve been goaded into responding to a reality show.

‘I hope [William and Kate] aren’t investing their precious time into something that will be deeply upsetting to watch.

‘He thinks being in there he’s a knight in shining armour, but the Palace will be keeping a watchful eye.’

Jennie believes despite Mr Goldsmith having good intentions with his trip to the Celebrity Big Brother house, his appearance could cause rifts in the family, adding that Gary needs to be more aware of the cameras around him.

‘There are times when you get involved in conversation and there’s a huge danger of Gary Goldsmith [forgetting about cameras] which he sort of did when he talked about [Kate’s] health’, she said.

The royal expert said that his appearance on a show that rakes in millions of viewers is likely to be ‘distressing’ to the Princess of Wales at a time where she is supposed to be recovering from her abdominal surgery.

‘She must just be thinking, ‘Why, why, why did Uncle Gary have to do this?’ I imagine she’s thoroughly depressed about it,’ Jennie added.

Housemate Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, who previously won Love Island in 2022, asked Mr Goldsmith about Kate.

He replied: ‘I think the most important thing… I spoke to her mum, my sister.

‘She’s getting the best care in the world and all the family has done is put the wagons around and looked after family first before anything else.’

Ms Cülcüloğlu responded: ‘I’ve heard mixed things about Kate and I don’t want to make a comment, but whatever it is, we want her to come back.’

Mr Goldsmith then said: ‘She’s amazing. She will be back. Of course she will.’

Kate’s uncle also spoke about Meghan Markle on the show, admitting that he has not met her before.

He said: ‘I have an opinion that Harry was really, really really loved and when they were a threesome, so Kate, William and Harry they looked really comfortable together, and then suddenly there’s an extra dynamic that comes in, puts a stick in the spokes and creates so much drama that I don’t genuinely think is there, and rewrote the history, saying how unhappy he was and I just don’t think that’s fair.’

Gary said that Kate was getting the ‘best care in the world’, reassuring the public that she is on track to recovery

‘I mean you can’t throw your family under the bus in such a dramatic style, then write books about it and expect to be invited round for Christmas.’

Speaking with presenter Fern Britton, Mr Goldsmith spoke candidly and discussed the Sussexes.

He said: ‘I genuinely think their titles should be taken away’.

This comes as the Duchess of Sussex is said to have hired a ‘new PR guru’ in time for her UK relaunch.

Meghan wants a stellar publicist to help her promote a new mystery business venture in 2024 that has reportedly been months in the making.

An unnamed executive has been recruited to help her handle the Duchess’s UK and European media operation and promote Archewell, the foundation she runs with her husband Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex’s new project is said to have been in the pipeline since last year and described as ‘highly personal to her’ and ‘genuine to who she is’ by The Daily Telegraph.

It will only feed deafening rumours that she wants to relaunch her lifestyle blog The Tig, especially after her friend Gwyneth Paltrow ‘s GOOP brand burst through the $250million value over Christmas.

Yesterday MailOnline revealed her search new UK PR executive- but those at the heart of the industry claimed it won’t be an easy job because the Sussexes’ don’t have a reputation for being good listeners.

One described the role as ‘a s**t sandwich that many senior PR people will not be willing to eat’.

Kensington Palace has been contacted for comment.
